Free and fair elections are a fundamental element of a healthy democracy. To be truly free and fair, however, elections require not only transparent and well-managed Election Day polling, but also a society that encourages full citizen participation, political parties to operate freely, independent media to flourish, and which builds a judiciary system capable of exercising independent and impartial authority. IESC constantly analyses political and pre-electoral processes in the region.
International Elections Study Center (IESC) is a non-profit organization established on July 17, 2013 by the Swedish International Liberal Centre (Silc) and the Eastern Europe Studies Centre (EESC).
The mission of IESC is to promote the non-partisan evaluation of the electoral process, study and dissemination of the best practices in election administration, legislation and rules based on international standards.
The IESC cooperates with and assists citizens’ election observation in the countries of the Eastern Partnership and in the Russian Federation, in order to improve the professionalism of domestic election observation throughout Europe and increase the visibility of findings of domestic election observation nationally and internationally.
IESC experts participated in election observation missions to Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine, Germany, Estonia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and other European countries.
